Deuteronomy 8

Review & Intro:  Chapter 5 & 6 talked about obeying the commandments of the Lord out of a love for the Lord and teaching them to our chldren.  Chapter 7 reminded the Israelites that there would be warfare in possessing the land, but there was no need to fear any man because the Lord would fight for them.  In Chapter 8, we see the blessings that obedience would bring to the children of  Israel, but also the warning that they would cease if the people turned to other gods and forget the Lord their God.
Deuteronomy-Outline
Deuteronomy Chapter 8 - Observation Questions

1.  What did the Lord say through Moses concerning the commandments He was giving them? vs. 1
They must  be carefull and obey  all of them.
2.  What does James tell us concerning being a "doer" of the Word?  Comment on the following verses:
  • James 1:22-25
22But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: 24For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. 25But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
If  we don't  obey  God and  go our own way then we  are only  causing  trouble and heart acke for ourselves.  God  know  eveything about us and knows what we need and when we are doing wrong so why  go on sinnig  and going against his commandments.
3.  Back to Deuteronomy 8.   What is important that they remember concerning their journey to this point? vs. 2
That it was The Lord God  that lead them out of the land  of slavery  and help them to jouney forty years  with out even thies  shoes or clthes  wearien out.
4.  Why does the Lord humble us in our daily lives? vs. 2
To  let  us rember that we are children of his and that he will supply  our every need.
5.  What are we told to realize concerning these trials in life?  Comment on the following verses:
  • James 1:2-4 -
2My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; 3Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. 4But let patience haveher perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing
  • 1 Peter 1:6-9 -
7That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: 8Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: 9Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
The more trails we go thought  the more our faith grows.  Our faith is in The lord Jesus Christ and  when  He  brings us though  our trails and we understand  that it  is because for him that we came though  The more  our faith grows in know that He will be there for us.
  • 1 Peter 4:12-19 -

12Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: 13But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. 14If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. 15But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evildoer, or as a busybody in other men's matters. 16Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf. 17For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first beginat us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? 18And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 19Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
