Review & Intro: Before the new generation crosses the Jordan into areas of new conquest, Moses reviews for them the victories they have already witnessed, such as the utter defeat of Sihon, king of the Amorites we saw in Chapter 2 of Deuteronomy. They have gone from "wanderers" in the wilderness to "warriors", becoming well known to the enemies around them. In Chapter 3, they will do the same thing to the kingdom of Og in Bashan and all of his cities and people. When you think upon the timeline of your own life, you see the times of victory and the times of defeat. Where are you at currently .. having victory or defeat? ... God wants to remind us again that in the Lord Jesus Christ, we are more than conquerors! Amen.

HJAWwz1345940079
Application:
19. Moses begged the Lord to change His mind about not allowing him to enter the promised land. The Lord told him to stop asking; He was not going to change His mind. He did allow Moses to see the land from Mt. Pisgah before he died. Let's look at two other instances of men asking the Lord to change His mind and how they submitted to God's will above their own. Comment on the following verses:
  • Jesus - Garden of Gethsemane - Matthew 26:36-46 -
  • Paul - Thorn in his flesh - 2 Corinthians 12:7-10 -
20. Have you ever begged the Lord to change His mind concerning something that you have had to endure? Do you remember when you finally stopped asking because you could rest in His will for you above your own? Share your experience with us if you don't mind?
21. The heart of Moses is revealed as he passes the paton over to his servant Joshua. He will encourage him and strengthen him. Our own failures and sad disappointments can be a platform of ministry to help others and to strengthen them as we have learned from our own mistakes and want to help them avoid the pitfalls. Do you have some examples from your own life?
22. Read and comment on the verse below:
  • 2 Corinthians 1:3-5 -
  • Luke 22:31,32 -
23. What causes us to be "more than conquerors" in the Lord Jesus Christ? Comment on these verses; what is the ingredient that causes us to be "warriors" in Him?
  • Romans 8:31-39 -
24. Summarize the lesson and post a prayer if you would like.

Deuteronomy 6

Review & Intro:  After reminding the Israelites about the 10 commandments they heard the Lord give to Moses on the mountain from the midst of the fire in Chapter 5, Moses explains to them now in Chapter 6, the motive of the heart in obeying the Lord's commands.  We are to love the Lord with all of our heart, soul, and strength, and teach our children to do so as well.
Deuteronomy 6 6

God and jesus  are one and the same.  This veres is  the clearest statement  that  can be maded of who they are.

  • John 17:11 -
We  as christaina are to be united  toghether ans one  in love and hermony.  As the Father ,Sn  and Holy ghost are one.  Our spritits  as christains should always be  a wittness of God mercy  ans grace. This  is  the strongest of all unions.
  • John 17:21 -We  as christain want to worry about who get the biggest blessin .  I f we consiontrat on the will of God and unite in love as a christain family  then just think of the wittness for God we really could be.

We  can pray for each other and lefted each other up   If we see a fellow christaon in trouble  or having a hard time with a burden we are to sahrer that burden with them .  If it was a family member we would do it  in a heart beat but  some times we need to step out side ou cofor box and put out a hel;ing hand to  even those we don't know .
Deuteronomy6 5
8.  Back to Deuteronomy 6. ... The Lord said through Moses that these commands were to be on their "heart". (vs.6) ... They were to teach them diligently to their sons.  When were they to teach them? vs.7 - Name 4 situations daily given
sitting in your homes.   when your are walking by the way .  when you lay down.  and we rise.
If we want to teach our kids about God and His love then we have to show themGos in everything  we do each and everyday.  God is everywere and that is what we need to teach our kids.  He is not just in church on sunday morings but he goes with us were ever we go. so we may want to rember that where we go God goes with us .  That is a lot to think about .
9.  What does it mean to have them "on your heart"?  It ties back to "loving the Lord" with all of our heart, soul, strength, and mind.  It is a matter of the heart.  Love is the motivating factor.  What did Jesus say in regard to His commandments?  Comment on the verses below:
  • John 14:15 -
We will keep God's laws if we love him
  • John 14:21 -
We keep the commandments to show our love to God.  Love is a commitment not just words.  We need to put actoin with those words.
  • John 15:10 -

  • 1 John 5:2 -
  • 1 John 5:3 -
  • 2 John 1:6 -
10.  Back to Deuteronomy 6. ... (vs.8,9) ...The Lord told Moses to tell them to bind His commands to their hands, their frontals, and on the doorposts of their house and on their gates.  Although we have His commands on our hearts and in our hearts, it is good to have visual reminders when the day gets busy or our lives get hectic.  Do you have visual reminders to draw you back to His Word and prayer?  Share if you would like; give the others ideas to think upon.

11.  It would come about that the Lord would bring them into the promised land.  They would be given great and splendid cities which they did not build ... houses full of good things which they did not fill ... hewn cisterns they did not dig ... vineyards and olive trees they did not plant ... They would eat and be satisfied. (vs.10,11)  What danger would they face as they became satisfied and had it so good? vs. 12
12.  Moses tells them again that they Lord commands that they fear only Him and worship only Him.  They are not to follow other gods; any of the gods of the peoples who surround them. (vs.13,14) ... What would the anger and jealousy of the Lord do to them if they were to worship other gods? vs. 15
13.  They were not to put the Lord to the "test" as they tested Him at Massah. (vs.16) ... Review what happened in that situation and give a summary from the verses below:

16.  Again, why did the Lord give them the commandments and statutes to observe and follow? vs.24-25 - Name 5 things
HJAWwz1345940079
Application:
 17.  The chapter has covered more than "keeping" God's commandments.  It has focused on the issue of His commandments being on "our heart".  We have seen that it is most important what our "motive" is for obeying the Lord, and the only motive should be because we "love" Him.  Let's examine our hearts and think about why we read the Bible in this group and why we do other things with Christians, church, etc.  Is it because we love Him - with all our hearts, minds, soul, and strength?  Examine your "motives" and ask the Lord to show you His love for you and your love for Him.  Renew your love commitment today.  Here are some verses to meditate on:
  • Psalm 119:11 -
  • 1 Peter 1:6-9 -
  • 1 John 4:16 -
  • 1 John 5:3 -
18.  Summarize the lesson and post a prayer if you would like.

Deuteromomy 5

Review & Intro:  In Deuteronomy Chapter 4, we looked at how the Lord longed for them to follow His commandments, but knew in advance that they would follow after other gods and cause Him to discipline them, scattering them away from the land He would give to them.  Yet, He reassured them that they would seek Him when they became distressed and they would find Him when they sought Him with their heart.  Now, Moses will review the 10 commandments with them, and express to them again how the Lord gave him all the statutes, judgments, and ordinances for them to follow in order to have the Lord's blessings upon them.  God's law is the standard.  He must lay it out for them to know right from wrong and to know how He cares enough to set boundaries up for them.

Deuteronomy Chapter 5 - Observation Questions
1.  Moses summoned all of Israel to hear the statutes and ordinances he was speaking to them that they may learn them and observe them carefully. (vs.1) ... He reminded them that the Lord made a covenant with them at Horeb that He had not made with their fathers.  (vs.2) ... The Lord spoke to them from the fire on the mountain. (vs.3,4) ... Who stood between them and the Lord because of their fear? vs. 5-Moses
2.  What did Moses declare to them? vs. 5-God's word
3.  The Lord told them, "I am the Lord your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery" (vs.6) ... and then He gave the 10 commandments.  List them below. (vs.7-21)
1)
1111.)Yous shall have no other gods before you.

2.)
You will not make any graving imges
3) You will not  take the lord's name in vain.
4)Observe the Saveath and keep it holy
 5)Honor  thy father and mother
6)Do not muder
7)do not steal
8) do not bear false wittnes against your neibor
9)do not commit  adultery
10)do not covet  your neightbors wife and shall not desire your neighbors house.

4.  How does the Lord describe Himself? vs. 9 He is  a jealous God
5.  Are you blessed that God is 'jealous' for you?  Share if you would like.
6.  We know that as believers we are part of the generations that have loved the Lord.  For those who have hated Him, are the children doomed to have a generational curse upon them for their father's sin?  The good news is that although some addictions and behaviors are certainly harder to break when a parent has done certain things, each person is accountable to God for their own sin; not that of his or her parents.  Comment on the following verses:
  • Deuteronomy 24:16
God wants us to know Him  for real not jut what others tell us  about Him He wants  a real relationship with each of us one on one.
  • Ezekiel 18 - entire chapter
So, everytime a person is born again and comes into the kingdom of God, we have a new Father and a new family.  We become a new creation!  Amen.
7.  For those who take the Lord's Name in vain, what will surely happen to them? vs. 11
God  will not hold  them  guiltless
Note:  What do you think it means to take His Name in vain?  Do you think it is when we use God's name as a curse to another?  That would be one way, but think about the meaning of the word "vain".  It means "emptiness, vanity, falsehood, lying, worthlessness" ...So it could mean that we apply God's Name to things He has not said that turn out to not be true and we hurt His Name and Character for doing so.  It could be not giving the correct estimate of Who He is to others when we complain and murmer.  It is far more than just using it as a curse word.  Personally, I never speak for God, other than to take the people to His Word and let the Word speak for Himself.  Amen.
8.  What promise came to Israel if they would honor their fathers and their mothers? vs. 16
Their lives would be prolonged.
9.  These were the words that the Lord spoke to the assembly from the midst of the fire on the mountain.  He did not add anything else.  What else did He personally do for them? vs. 22
added.
10.  The people came near to Moses through the heads of their tribes and elders (vs.23) ... What had the people experienced for themselves? vs. 24 - Name 4 things
His greatness,  his glory and HIs voice

11.  The people were afraid to continue to hear the voice of the Lord for fear of their lives. (vs.25,26) ...
obedtian heart so the woud keep his commandments
They asked that Moses hear and then tell them what God spoke to him.  They said they would hear and do it. (vs.27) ... The Lord said that had done well in all they had spoken concerning that. (vs. 28) ... What kind of heart did the Lord desire that they would have and why? vs. 29 -
12.  After the people went back to their tents, the Lord spoke directly to Moses all the commandments, statutes, and judgments he was to teach the people so that they would observe them in the land they were going to be given as a possession. (vs.31) ... If they would not turn to the right or the left, but stay focused on God's will, what would He do for them? vs. 32,33 -That you may live  and be well and prolong your life.
HJAWwz1345940079
Application:
13.  One of the key verses is when the Lord speaks His heart in saying in verse 29 - "Oh, that they had such a heart in them, that they would fear Me and keep My commandments" - We can sense that He knows they cannot keep His Word.  He knew that one day, with the coming of the Holy Spirit, man would finally be able to have that kind of heart within them.  Take time to comment on the following verses of the Promise of the Spirit coming, and the things we have today because we have believed in the death, burial, resurrection, and ascension of Jesus the Christ, and He has given the Holy Spirit to us!  Amen.
  • Isaiah 44:3 -
  • Ezekiel 11:19 -
  • Ezekiel 26:26 -
  • Ezekiel 26:27 -
  • John 3:5 -
  • John 7:39 -
  • John 14:17 -
  • John 14:26 -

Deuteronomy 2

Blog EntryOct 6, '12 3:28 PM
by Doggie for everyone
Review & Into:  In Deuteronomy Chapter 1, we saw that it was a "farewell address" to the people of Irael before he dies and they enter the Promised Land. He reviewed their history, how they went from Mt. Sinai to this land 38 years before, but faltered in faith when they heard the report of the spies. God told that generation they would die in the wilderness and that their children would enter the land. He told them to set out for the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea (Deut. 1:40). Chapter 2 is a continuation of the history lesson of how they got to where they are at this time about to cross over to the Promised Land.
Deuteronomy-Outline

24.  Moses remembers that he sent messengers to the wilderness of Kedemoth to Sihon king of Heshbon.  He sents words of "peace" to them (vs.26) ... He wanted to pass through the land and pay for any food or water as he had done with the sons of Esau in Seir and the Moabites in Ar. (vs.27-29).... Why was Sihon, king of Heshbon, unwilling to allow them to pass through the land? vs. 30God harden their hearts just as will a lost person if they don't repeat.  We only have the proimes of the holy ghost convety our hears onced.

East%20Bank%20journey
Application:
29.  Moses and Aaron along with the faithful Caleb and Joshua had to turn around and go through the wilderness for the unbelief of all the others.  Many times the godly suffer the consequences of unbelief and decisions of others.  Our individual responsibility is to remain faithful to the Lord and to continue to look to the reward in following Him no matter what others have caused in our lives.  Comment on the following verses:
  • 1 Peter 4:12-19 -
  • 2 Thessalonians 1:5-12 -
  • Hebrews 12:1-3 -
  • Matthew 5:43-48 -
30.  God had given land to possess to the blood relatives of Israel.  Esau was Israel (Jacob's) brother - remember the story of Jacob & Esau - (Genesis 27-36)  ... The land of Moab and Ammon were blood relatives too. Do you remember the story of Lot and his daughters after the destruction of Sodom & Gomorrah? (Genesis 19:31-38 ) ... The Israelites were not to provoke them but to pass through their areas peacefully not coveting what the Lord had given them.  We are to not covet what our relatives or friends have been blessed with.  We have been taught to be content with what the Lord has given us.  Comment on these verses:
  • Exodus 20:17 -
  • Deuteronomy 7;25 -
  • 1 Timothy 6:6-12 -
  • Philippians 4:11-13 -
  • Hebrews 13:5 -
  • 1 Thessalonians 5:18 -
31.   Moses reminds the Israelites that there were giants in the lands that God had given Esau, Moab, and Ammon to possess, but they had driven them out and possessed their land.  It is a reminder to them that upon the report of "giants in the land", they had not believed Him and had not gone in to occupy at that time.  Only Caleb and Joshua had returned with the good word that they would surely overcome with God's help, but the people were weak, afraid, and full of unbelief, and would not do it.  Consequently, they had wandered in the wilderness and died off, one by one.  What giants are you facing today?  God wants you to believe Him; to believe His word; to stand firm in faith and be an overcomer.  Comment on these verses:
  • 1 John 4:4
  • 1 Peter 5:8-11
  • Ephesians 6:10-18
32.  Read Psalm 136:19-26 - The Psalmist recounts the mercies of the Lord through the wilderness journeys and the battles they faced.  His mercy endures forever.  Write out a summary of this prayer of praise \o/
33.  Summarize this lesson and post a prayer if you would like.

The boustfull shall not stand in your sight You hate all workes of iniquity.

God can not sondone or excuse  even the smallest sin,  Therfore we can not excuse ourselves for dinning just a little bit.  Sin is sin in God's eyes and so it should be in ours.
We don't need to get comfortabale  as we have  today on what is sin.  If God's word says  it is a sin then it is a sin.  We need to learn from our sins and not getcomfotobale with it. As God makes us aware fo sin we must change .  As beliver shoud stive to be more tolandt of  peopl but not of their sins.

Observation Questions For Exodus Chapter 33 Moses has come down after 40 days on the mountaintop, only to find an idolatrous party going on. He smashes the tablets, orders men to be killed until the party stops, then goes back up on the mountain to intercede for the people. God tells Moses to go lead the people into the land He had promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. But, He says, He Himself would not be leading them, but an angel. The people will be getting the promise of God, yet without the presence of God. The people put away their jewelry and Moses goes out to the tent of meeting to plead with God to go with them or not send them out. ..... Exodus 33 1. Horeb are the same mountain with different names for it. 8. What would happen when Moses went inside the tent? vs. 9A pillar of cloud would stay at the entre 12. What would the people do when they saw the pillar of cloud? vs. 10They stiid and wirshipped 13. How did the Lord speak to Moses? vs. 11As a friend 14. Does this contradict the fact that God said if anyone saw His face they would surely die? No, because God the Father and God the Son are both God and yet God the Son showed up in Pre-Incarnate ways to many of the patriarchs. Jesus said that Abraham saw His day and others claimed they had seen the living God and were kept alive such as Hagar, Jacob, Joshua and others. In the New Testament, we are also told that no one has seen the face of God at anytime. Comment on this verse: 1 John 4:12 If we love one another, God abideth in us - This is treated of, 1John 4:13 - 16. And his love is perfected - Has its full effect. In us - This is treated of, 1John 4:17 - 20.- 17Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world. 18There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love. 19We love him, because he first loved us. 20If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? 21And this commandment have we from him, That he who loveth God love his brother also. we have to love each other even our enemies bacuse God is lonve and no one can lnot love others and love God. Yet, this same John, the apostle, said this in his gospel account of seeing and touching and hearing the Word of God and said that He is God - Jesus. Read these verses and comment: John 1:1-4 -1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4In him was life; and the life was the light of men. Jesus is the light of the world why he was here but then we became that light and He was there with God in the beginning beacuse he was God the Son. John 1:14 -14And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. He the son came to earth to die for our sins . He came in the form of human and felt everything that we feel, John 1:18 -18No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. And comment on what the writer of Hebrews tells us in the verse below: Hebrews 1:3-5 -3Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; 4Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they. 5For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son? 15. Jesus spoke with Moses face to face just as a man speaks to his friend. How does the Lord speak to us and what does He call us? 2 Corinthians 4:6 -6For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:18 -18But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. John 15:15,16 - 15Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. 16Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. 16. Who stayed in the tent of meeting with God even when Moses left to go back into the camp with the people? vs. 11Joshus Note: We have seen Joshua a few times now. He was the one who fought Amalek while Aaron and Hur held Moses arms up in prayer. He was the one who went up the mountain to assist Moses even though he did not go to the very top to be in the presence of God with him. He was there waiting to come back down with Moes and assist him again. Now we see that he goes out to pray with him and stays when he returns back to the camp. He is getting groomed and we will find out that he is the very one that will lead the children of Israel into the promised land after Moses dies. Wow. How awesome it would be to be the assistant/servant to Moses at that time. 17. We have the record of the prayer that Moses prayed to the Lord and how the Lord responded back to him! (vs.12 - 23) - How awesome it is. What does Moses need to know from God? vs. 12awere he want s them to go God has told him He knows him by name and that he has found favor (grace) in His sight. (12b). What does Moses need to know in order to know the Lord better? vs. 13a teach him his ways. This is one pray that we should take to heart every sday and asked God to teach us his will each day . What does Moses want the Lord to remember? vs. 13b How did God respond to Moses? - vs. 14 - Name 2 things He would so this for Moses He was very pleased with him. What did Moses say to Him in return? vs. 15 If "God was not with them then not to send them from there. How did Moses say others would 'know' that he and God's people have His favor? vs. 16That God go with them. This is the same today, isn't it? How do people know that you belong to God? Read 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 and 1 Peter 2:9-12 and make comments. Back to Ex.33. - What did the Lord say to Moses in return? vs.17a -That he would do this for him. How did the Lord know Moses? vs. 17b -By name 18. What does Moses cry out? vs. 18 to show him his glory 19. What did God say His glory would be? vs.19a - Name 2 things Goodness merscy 20. Who will God be gracious to and have compassion on? vs. 19b on all thfat he has compassion on. 21. Why could God not allow Moses to see His face? vs. 20 He would die Note: Again, this is why most believe it was the Son of God, Jesus, in Pre-carnate form speaking with Moses in the tent face to face and not God the Father's face that he would have seen. 22. Where did Moses stand to be beside the Lord? vs. 21-clifted of the rock 23. God put him in the cleft of the rock as His glory passed by and covered him with His hand until He passed by. (vs.22) Then God took His hand away and allowed Moses to see what? vs. 23his back Application: 24. Moses longed to know God deeper; to know His ways so that He would know Him better. This should be the heart of every child of God. Paul had this longing so deep that he even longed for suffering to help him know his Lord more intimately. Read and comment on these verses. Philippians 3:10 - 25. Jesus prayed for you and I to taste this glory of knowing Him and knowing God in all the fullness of oneness with Them. Let's read John 17 and catch the phrases that Jesus prayed for us. Who shall we know in order to have eternal life? - vs.3 - Name 2 What glory does Jesus want to have once again? vs. 5 What did Jesus manifest to His own while on earth? vs. 6 How did Jesus keep those while He was with them? vs. 12 How will we be sanctified (set apart) for God? vs. 17 As the Father sent the Son into the world, where is the Son of God sending us? vs. 18 Who was Jesus praying for other than His disciples at that time? vs. 20 What was His prayer for all of us who know Him for all time? vs. 21 What did God give to Jesus and in turn Jesus gives to us? vs. 22 Wasn't this the prayer of Moses also? Think about it! What was Jesus' final requests to the Father for us? vs. 24 26. To know Jesus is to know the glory of God. Amen! How will this lesson effect your prayer life from this point forward? 27. Summarize the chapter and post a prayer if you would like.E Love you, Brenda
